I'll Be Dipped In Chocolate

I make a lot of goodies that can be put on a cookie plate or taken on a tray to a party or smaller get together.   One of my favorites is to dip, or drizzle with melted chocolate.   Nothing could be easier than melting chocolate wafers and either using it dip to array of items in it or to drizzle it over things.

This first item turned into a quick and easy prize for one of the games at my daughters wedding shower.

I took a store bought box of caramel corn and  turned it into Chocolate Covered Caramel Corn.  Here is how I did it..............

Here are some other ideas that are quick, easy and delicious involving melting chocolate and either dipping or drizzling it.

Apples wrapped in caramel, dipped in chocolate and drizzled with white chocolate and then sprinkles.

Chubby Hubby Pretzel Bites.  Peanut butter balls between two pretzels dipped in chocolate

Pretzel Braids dipped in chocolate and sprinkles

Chocolate Cups filled with Peanut butter pie filling or cannoli filling

Fortune Cookies dipped in chocolate and sprinkles

Easter bunny Peeps dipped in chocolate.  I used them to decorate a cake.

Pretzel sticks turned into wands

Frosted Chocolate Cupcake dipped in chocolate

Chocolate dipped Strawberries make a great cake decoration.

Chocolate mice made by using melted chocolate as glue to hold together a hershey kiss and chocolate covered cherry.

Things that I have drizzled, dripped or made  with chocolate
The local ice cream shop had leftover cherry dip.  So I claimed it and drizzled it over a cake.

Made a fresh fruit tart and drizzled it with both white and dark chocolate.

Add heavy cream to make a ganache and pour it over the cake.

You can dip just about any homemade or store bought cookie and add sprinkles.

I make an assortment of shortbread cookies.  Sometimes I add them to the tray plain or sometimes I put them over the top with a drizzle of chocolate.

Who doesn't like a chocolate dipped strawberry.  I sometimes dip blackberries as well.  If you look closely you can see that I stuffed the red raspberries with a white chocolate chip.

Made a cake topper by dipping a pear in chocolate and made his tail by painting a chocolate fan on wax paper and then adding chocolate dipped pretzels and candy to decorate it.  Glued it to the body with melted chocolate.

Used a squeeze bottle filled with chocolate to paint this turkey on wax paper.

Still more things  you can dip, drizzle or pour the chocolate onto.
  1. Mandarin Oranges
  2. Candied Citris
  3. Candy Canes
  4. Penny Stick Candy
  5. Cookies
  6. Potato Chips
  7. Fruit
  8. Granola
  9. Bacon
  10. Ice cream cones
  11. Cake cut into cubes or shaped into balls

The Cookie Capers Have Begun.

The Cookie Capers have begun. One of my favorite things about Christmas is making several types of Christmas cookies and candies. This year will be no exception. Have had a little time on my hands so I am ahead of the game so far. The tree is up and decorated and today was spent, mixing, rolling, freezing, melting and dipping a few truffles and balls.
This is a new recipe that I wanted to try and I have tweaked to suit my needs. I mean who doesn't love cookie dough, brownies or chocolate?

Cookie Dough Brownie Bombs
Ingredients¾ cup butter, softened
¾ cup brown sugar
¼ cup white sugar
2 Tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
Pinch salt
2 cups miniature chocolate chips, divided (1 cup for dough and one cup for decorating)
1 pkg. Fudge brownie mix, baked and cooled.
1 pkg. chocolate melts

Instructions
Mix the brownies as directed on the box and bake and cool.

Make the cookie dough in the stand mixer, beat together the butter and sugars until creamy. Add the milk and vanilla; beat to combine. Lastly, beat in the flour and pinch of salt until a soft dough forms. Stir in one cup of the mini chips.

Line a cookie sheet with wax paper. Using the smallest cookie scoop you can find. Scoop dough out in even increments and set on wax paper lined cookie sheet. Once dough is all scooped, roll each dough into a ball. Freeze the dough balls for about an hour to firm up.
Cut the brownies leaving a ½ inch edge around the pan. Place center of brownies into a Ziploc bag and smoosh together to mix evenly. Freeze for 30 minutes. Scoop out balls of dough with smallest cookie scoop and place on cookie sheet. Roll all into balls and flatten.

Place a cookie dough ball in the middle of the flattened brownie and very gently, wrap the brownie around the cookie dough ball. Set back on waxed lined cookie sheet. Repeat until all cookie dough balls are covered, and then return to the freezer for 30 minutes.

Melt chocolate into a tall narrow mug, according to package directions. Using a toothpick, dip each brownie truffle into the chocolate, coat completely, and allow excess to drip off. Return to the foil-line sheet and sprinkle the tops with the remaining cup of mini chips, for garnish. Store chocolates in the fridge or freezer, in an airtight container.

Notes/Swaps
You need to have moist brownies to do these. If the brownies you have are to dry. Put them in the food processor and pulse until they look like fine crumbs. Then trickle in Hershey’s syrup and run processor until a soft dough forms. You will be able to tell when this happens as the dough will pull away from the sides of the processor.

I usually make several kinds of truffles or balls at this time of year. Because they can be similar in size and often dipped in the same type of chocolate, I often choose something small to place on the top of each individual ball. In this case I used a small sugar snowflake, because I had already used the chocolate chips on the plain cookie dough balls. When I make Oreo truffles I top them with chocolate jimmies and I used crushed gingersnaps to top the gingersnap truffles.

It Sure Is Sweet When Two People Fall In Love

It Sure Is Sweet When Two People Fall In Love..............was the theme of my daughter's bridal shower.   What a great time we had planning, preparing and attending the shower.   Many weeks of searching, shopping and crafting went into the preparation for the big day of the shower.  I hope the following photos spark an idea or two for you and yours.

Found bulleting board letters at the dollar store.  Strung their names for the bride to be's table.

Many trips to the dollar store ended up in a fancy table décor.   Plastic tablecloths in red and white.   Black and white designed shelf padding made wonderful placemats.   Leftover valentine napkins and decorations for the table setting.
More dollar store items used to decorate.   Red rose petals.  Flowers for the centerpieces and to throw around the tables.

Close up view
Mix and match colors, red, white, pink and black.

Found all the pieces to make the center pieces at the dollar store:  small gift box, foam, moss, silk flowers, red garland wire heart shape, greenery.

Chocolate dipped braids sprinkled with red/white/pink nonpareils and a heart stuck to the end of each.
Cupcake stand made from dollar store trays and plastic glasses wrapped with silver Christmas bead garland.
The cupcake stand full of cupcakes: Lemon, Chocolate Oreo, and Pistachio.
Found this cute vase at the dollar store, we used it as an ice tea glass and party favor.
Fancied up red straw for the ice tea glass.

Found heart shaped red cherry jelly beans at Big lots along with heart shaped mints.

More dollar store ingenuity:  Pilsner glass filled with cinnamon hard candies, topped with a half foam ball, curly cue ribbon, starlight mints, heart straws and heart shaped lollipop.  These made wonderful prizes for the games we played.
Bride and groom wine bottle decorations.   These made wonderful prizes too.
Wedding wine glasses.  Yes believe it or not found these at the dollar store too.   However, we couldn't the amount we wanted so we used them at the head table.  Very adorable.

Half and half: Used my princess house shrimp cocktail glasses filled with red hot candies (from the dollar store) as candle holders.

Found huge engagement rings at the Dollar General amongst the Valentine decorations.

Great ideas from Pinterest:  Tomato and Mozzarella appetizers along side of cucumber and feta or hummus bites.

Candy airplanes as a nod to the groom who is in the air force.

As another nod to the air force groom, paper airplane thank you notes, that were tucked inside of some of the ice tea glasses.

Unfolded paper airplane used the computer to add our own thank you.
